Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY)

DeenDayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), a placement-led skilling initiative by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) occupies a unique position amongst other skill training programs due to its focus on rural poor youth and its emphasis on sustainable employment. It aims at transforming poor rural Indian youth into a future-ready, skilled workforce.

The Department of Rural Development, USRLM is implementing DDU-GKY scheme in Uttarakhand. The program is supporting rural youth to become economically independent by building desired skills and securing a job.

At DDU-GKY, we share a clear vision “Transform rural poor youth into an economically independent and globally relevant workforce.” We believe these words truly capture the essence of the program and makes DDU-GKY different from other Government schemes.

In order to implement the scheme, the state has empanelled, dedicated Project implementing agencies ( PIAs) and they are the bridge between the candidates and employers, they ensure that candidates benefit and provide the tools for transformation.

Our training partners/PIAs bring together the right trainers, experts, sector knowledge and infrastructure. They plan and execute projects to build an employable workforce.

The state has training centres which cover all the districts and providing training to candidates in different job roles under different sector skill counsels. They are equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure, practical training labs, classrooms, IT facilities and experienced trainers. The emphasis is on quality and all-round training, which lays the foundation for life-long learning, and secures employment opportunities for youth in difficult circumstances.

On completion of their course, they will be employed in industries of different sectors like – Apparel and Garments, Automobile and Auto Components, Banking/Insurance and Finance Services, Healthcare Services, Retail, Security, Tourism and Hospitality.

Candidates trained by our training partners are receiving placements in top brands. Recently, two of our candidates received international placements as well. We sincerely wish our skilled workforce will help the industry grow and prosper our state.

SPMU-(State Project Management Unit)

State Project Management Unit (SPMU) under the Department of Rural Development is the nodal agency for implementation and monitoring of the centrally-sponsored, state-funded, and externally-aided schemes aiming at poverty alleviation, self/employment generation, sanitation, capacity building, and women’s social and economic empowerment.

SPMU under the chairmanship of Additional Chief Secretary Rural Development, Department of Rural Development Govt of Uttarakhand and a dedicated Project Approval Committee ( PAC) which combines the efforts in achieving the skill development target of the State, comprises of a dedicated team members Young professionals and Technical Support Agency (TSA).
